There was a movie that I watched during the Mid-Autumn Festival. I didn't pay much attention to it at first, thinking that the good reviews were all made up by the so-called media. But after watching it, I felt that it really lived up to expectations. It was the latest "Transformers" animated film "Transformers: Origins".

The story type is still science fiction adventure.

The imaginative world structure of Cybertron and the robot design that is relatively restored to the old animation can indeed impress many animation fans. However, what I want to say most after watching it is the strong and simple revolutionary issues contained in the film and the dystopian narrative that is closely related to reality.

There is no extra human perspective, but the experiences of the Transformers are presented in a revolutionary discourse that is unique to humans.

Before becoming the Autobot leader Optimus Prime and the Decepticon leader Megatron, Orion Pax and D-16 were two ordinary miners who had to mine energy in dangerous underground environments every day.

Although they are good brothers, their personalities, attitudes and philosophies are completely opposite.

Orion Pax is a miner with his own ideas, courage to challenge and break the rules. Although he does not believe in the saying "Are kings, princes, generals and ministers different in kind?" and wants to overthrow it, he is upright in his bones, which also lays the groundwork for him to break the rules and participate in the competition, thus starting a series of adventures and uncovering the conspiracy.

D-16 was not yet the leader of the Decepticon faction at that time. He worked according to the routine every day and believed in all the information transmitted to him by his superiors. It was a bit like accepting everything, but at that time, it was still peaceful on the surface.

D-16 collected stickers of the original Thirteen King Kong, who were the first to resist the Five-Faced Monster, like a fanboy, especially Megatronus, who later became the Fallen King Kong. However, the blackening of D-16, his believer, cannot be regarded as fate, as it also involves some personality and even external factors, which will be discussed later.

Interestingly, the revolutionary process presented in Transformers: Origins also conforms to the stage of the New Democratic Revolution. The railway coal miners' strike and the miners' uprising called by Optimus Prime are very similar, both of which are sparks of revolution that burst out from the working class.

Let's look at the ruling class. Transformers: Origins portrays Megatron with a very modern feel. This is the simple revolutionary tone of "Transformers: Origins", and what follows is the love-hate relationship between Pillar and his fanboy Megatron.

Of course, compared to Zhuzi's helplessness and the magnanimity of a true leader, the darkening of his fanboy is more interesting.

From a justice perspective, both Megatron and Megatron are traitors. This kind of thinking develops to a later stage, once in power, or continues to be paranoid, it will turn into an extreme attitude of "whoever stands in my way will die". In the film, Megatron's final act of abandoning Optimus Prime and slaughtering the former supporters of Megatron are all extreme reactions after his beliefs are shattered.

What was once promised has become a lie forever. This is the tragedy of the cool movie "Transformers: Origins", and it also echoes the transformation of student movements in the late 1960s and 1970s into terrorism (just look at the attitude of the Japanese right wing towards the Japanese United Red Army).

This kind of information brought some excitement to me when I was a kid, more distant and mysterious things before life, and colder and more empty things after death.

I clicked on the "want to watch" button in April this year, and watched it twice in one week, the first in IMAX 2D and the second in IMAX 3D. I recommend the latter, but it seems that there are not many theaters showing it, because the Transformers are made up of countless three-dimensional blocks, and 3D can still be seen more clearly. Although the Transformers are all human-like, it is great that there are no humans from Earth. It is very qualified for entertainment. Like the recently released Alien Ship, the protagonists are all miners, and the main line from beginning to end is the struggle of the miners at the bottom. There are no aliens running out to deviate from the story, so I like it more. It may be difficult for the sequel to surpass this one. Orion and D16, from small people who support each other to leaders who go their separate ways, the process is simple, but quite reasonable. Just a few moments seem to be enough.

A long time ago, I also had a good friend like this. After becoming stronger, he actually became a different person. It was not until the moment he chose to turn against me that I realized that his previous good temper was just endurance. Orion Pax, who has a flexible mind and seems unreliable, but has spare time to adapt to anything, can tell even when he hears the conspiracy of the enemy of the sky. No wonder he always feels that something is wrong, because he thinks and thinks a lot, his self is more solid and not easy to shake. He will implement his beliefs, including sincerity and kindness. After losing that precious frivolity, he grew up to be a bit rigid and good guy Optimus Prime. It's not that the friendship has changed, but because D16 has been tolerating Orion.

The two people who are not compatible with each other can become friends, which is based on D16's tolerance. Orion thought they were still the same as before, but for D16, everything has changed. Although the two used to support each other, this friendship cannot cover up the pain brought to him by his casualness and self-assertion. Of course, Orion is good, but everything in the past is a shame. The fooling of the Optimus Prime and the teasing of Orion are not even fundamentally different. Now that they can choose again, it may be right to end this relationship. Although they turned against each other with the original intention of saving Cybertron, the greater price than the breakdown of friendship is the loss of childhood. For me, this is not the beginning of a magnificent legend, but a boring life with too many responsibilities. Optimus Prime and Megatron have to embark on a lonely and tired leadership path. At the end of the movie, I have already felt the class flavor of the two.

However, the Shadow God Map that recorded Huang Mei's crime was accidentally destroyed by Kang Jinlong's surprise attack. However, compared with the three examples above, the brotherhood theme of this film is only slightly better than the TV version of "Young White Horse Drunk in Spring Breeze". D-16, the young version of Megatron, has an extremely abrupt transformation in this film. He suddenly becomes stronger and then suddenly becomes bad. As the protagonist, Orion Pax, the young version of Optimus Prime, has also undergone an abrupt transformation. While gaining the ability to transform, he naturally gains leadership and speaking skills, which is completely different from the previous young man. The two young Cybertrons from the bottom of the society eventually became well-known leaders. Of course, the audience is willing to watch this huge growth, but the growth arc should be as smooth as possible. The screenwriter wrote backwards based on the known ending, but due to the size of the film and its own execution, there is no way to make this low starting point and high achievement connect convincingly enough.

The whole story is the type that you can guess the whole picture after watching the beginning. It is simple and old-fashioned, but the advantage is that it is not too strenuous to watch. It is still a good movie for leisure and relaxation, and it is suitable for parent-child viewing. It is a movie that both adults and children can have fun in. The action scenes in the film are relatively smooth, but it may also be considered to serve audiences of all ages, so there are no long-lasting and more intense fighting scenes. The most exciting scene is left to the end, which is the duel between the complete Optimus Prime and Megatron, but this is only compared with the other fighting scenes in the film.

The voice cast of this film is very luxurious, and both the male and female lead are Avengers. Thor picked up the axe again after defeating Thanos. As for Megatron's voice actor, I didn't react at first. He actually acted in a Marvel movie, but he played the worst role in the worst Marvel movie, the old black man crying about the nuclear explosion in "Eternals". Optimus Prime in this film gives people a feeling of being too saintly, but compared with the guy in "Eternals", I think the saintliness of Brother Pillar is acceptable.

At the end of the film, Optimus Prime and Megatron changed their names, and the names of the two camps of Autobots and Decepticons were also established. Only B-127 did not change his name. At that time, I was still wondering if there was not enough time and he was missed. After leaving the cinema, I flipped through the movie review of "Bumblebee" that I wrote that year, and then I remembered that B-127 changed his name after arriving on Earth. Therefore, this film can be perfectly connected with the live-action movie in 2018.

The last time I watched a Transformers movie on the big screen was Bumblebee in 2018, when the Sixth Master was at its peak. I also borrowed the Sixth Master stalk when writing. Now six years have passed (this number is purely coincidental), and the Sixth Master has long become an outdated stalk, and netizens no longer view the Sixth Master's words and deeds in such a black-and-white way. Mr. Akira Toriyama, the author of Dragon Ball, and Mr. Shi Banyu, the voice actor of the protagonist of A Chinese Odyssey, passed away this year. I won't make a specific film review, but I want to talk about my personal opinion on the psychology of D-16 turning from a fan to a hater of Megatron. D-16's psychological process of changing from regarding Megatron as an idol to tearing Megatron apart with his own hands, this extreme diode transformation is actually somewhat realistic, mainly for the following reasons:

1. Expectation gap: As a miner, D-16 had high expectations for the Enemy and regarded him as a leader, and could even be said to be spiritually dependent on him. When he learned the truth, this gap triggered even stronger negative emotions. The previous enthusiasm turned into anger, which would be more destructive than ordinary disgust.

2. Emotional drive: Fans turning against fans often have strong emotional impulses. This drastic change in emotion makes criticism and disgust more contagious and easier to influence other fans or the public. This is strongly reflected in his speech after defeating Starscream, which laid the groundwork for him to tear apart the enemy and want to be the king himself.

When his ability reaches a certain level, this evil will naturally stimulate his influence. This change will inevitably trigger a chain reaction, driving more people to replace him emotionally and quickly.

Finally, the phenomenon of Megatron fans turning against him is actually very realistic in the current environment where social media is well developed. When a certain top internet celebrity collapses, it is often his fans or closest people who deal the fatal blow.

The story of "Transformers" is the childhood memory of many people. Those gorgeous transformation scenes of the Autobots accompanied many people through their childhood. When we were young, we admired heroes like Optimus Prime who were brave, upright and reliable. When we grow up, we begin to imagine what the childhood of a hero like Optimus Prime was like? Did he also fantasize about a hero appearing and fighting alongside him like we did in our childhood? The movie "Transformers: Origins" directed by Josh Cooley, which has just been released, satisfies our curiosity and tells the story of Optimus Prime's growth experience and why he eventually grew into a hero and leader.

Optimus Prime and Megatron, who are lifelong enemies and never stop fighting, become close friends in Transformers: Origins. At that time, Optimus Prime was not called Optimus Prime, but Orion Pax, and Megatron was not called Megatron, but D-16.

In the worldview constructed by Transformers: Origins, the Transformers on the planet Cybertron are divided into two categories: those with Transformation Gears and those without. Those with Transformation Gears are born into the upper class and enjoy a comfortable life. Those without Transformation Gears can only serve as miners at the bottom of society, working hard every day. Orion and D-16 are two miners who were born without Transformation Gears.

What's more interesting is that at the beginning of the story, Orion, who will become Optimus Prime in the future, appears to be rebellious, while D-16, who will become Megatron in the future, behaves honestly. This makes the audience curious: No, did you two get the wrong script? But as the plot of the movie develops, the audience gets to know the two characters more deeply, and they can find the foreshadowing that the screenwriter has secretly laid for these two characters. Although Orion is rebellious, he always believes in the concepts of justice and equality in his heart. The rebellion he shows is just to realize his inner ideal of justice.

But D-16 does not have such a righteous ideal in his heart. The reason why he is honest and dutiful is just because he worships authority. D-16 admires the first batch of the original 13 King Kong who resisted the Quintesson. In today's words, he is a bit like a fanatic fan, collecting the peripheral stickers of these original 13 King Kong crazily. Among the stickers of the original 13 King Kong, he especially likes Megatronus. Friends who are familiar with the "Transformers" series should know that Megatronus is the later Fallen King Kong. Such little easter eggs are everywhere in this "Transformers: Origins". After all, 2024 is the 40th anniversary of the birth of the "Transformers" series. The earliest season of "Transformers" was broadcast in 1984. I think this is not only a benefit given by the director and screenwriter to the fans of the "Transformers" series, but also quietly hints at the reason why D-16 finally turned black. His honesty and obedience are just because he worships authority and believes in the words of the upper leaders. And people who worship authority can easily become worshippers of power or even superstitious about power. When he gains power, he will also require his subordinates to be as honest and obedient as he was in the past.

It is worth mentioning that the voice actor of Orion is none other than Chris Hemsworth, the Thor who is very familiar to our domestic audience. As early as when he played Thor, his sexy, mature, yet lively and funny voice left a deep impression on me. The voice of Thor is very consistent with the characteristics of Orion. In the early stage, he has the innocence and humor unique to teenagers, but in the end, when the teenager is finally about to transform into a hero and leader, and gives a speech to countless grassroots miners, his voice shows a unique leadership aura. The audience just listens to his voice, and their hearts begin to boil.

As the mythologist Joseph Campbell wrote in his masterpiece "The Hero with a Thousand Faces", before becoming a hero, one must step out of the ordinary normal world and enter the realm of adventure. If one wants to cross the dividing line between the two worlds, one must first face the trials and challenges of this dividing line. In "Transformers: Origins", this trial and challenge is undoubtedly the Ironfort 5000 competition held by the leader of the planet Cybertron, the Primeval. Through the design of Industrial Light & Magic, the top special effects team in Hollywood, this competition with countless Transformers participating in the same frame is simply a top visual feast.

After withstanding this trial and challenge, according to Campbell's point of view, Orion's heroic path will be inspired by enlightenment and meet new partners on the way. So, my personal favorite Transformer Bumblebee appeared! Of course, his name in "Transformers: Origins" is not Bumblebee, but B-127, but his chatterbox and funnyness can still instantly remind me of the cute Bumblebee.

In addition to B-127, the former captain of the mining team, the female Transformer Alita, also joined their team. Alita's voice actor is Scarlett Johansson, who won the honor of Best Actress at the 8th Rome Film Festival just for her voice performance in the sci-fi movie "Her" directed by Spike Jonze. In "Transformers: Origins", Scarlett's voice acting is equally impressive. Just through the voice, Alita's determination, confidence and courage as a woman are demonstrated. In fact, many people think that only boys like the "Transformers" series, but in fact, this is just a prejudice of gender stereotypes. There are also many women who have studied the "Transformers" series thoroughly, and Alita, a female Transformer, is the manifestation of the rise of female power.

After going through many dangers and hardships, the four-member adventure team finally saw the surface ruins of the planet Cybertron and the remains of the legendary heroes. Time seemed to stand still here, and the majestic bodies of the dead heroes were all frozen in this moment. This is the most shocking and touching scene in the whole movie. For fans of the "Transformers" series, this scene alone is worth the price of the ticket.

It was also here that Orion finally learned the truth about the planet Cybertron and obtained the most important item to become a hero: the Transformation Gear!
